More development planned for West First St in South Boston!

The once starkly populated street in Southie has undergone huge changes in the last three years. Now South Boston developer Donald Clancy is planning a five
story, nine unit condo building at 337 West First St, which is adjacent to several other new construction condos. The condos would include 15 garage spaces and office space as well. Can’t wait to see the finished product!

Trying To Measure Gentrification In Boston

This is an interesting read on gentrification, and how people are trying to quantify it.  Of course the Fort Point/ South Boston tract saw values go up by a whopping 89% between 2000 and 2015.  However the city as a whole saw far less gentrification than Washington D.C. or Portland Oregon.  Keep in mind this is one method of trying to measure this, and I’m sure if you looked at it from another perspective Boston would show more gentrification because we all know how expensive it has become to try and stay in the city here.
